Murphy wins Lilac in pro debut; Grove finishes T-10

Despite a double bogey on the final hole, Vinnie Murphy of Linden Country Club in Puyallup, Wash., finished at 14-under par 274 for a 1-stroke victory Sunday at the Lilac City Invitational at The Fairways at West Terrace, near Cheney.

Murphy, who was tied for the lead after the third round, shot 68 on Sunday to win in his pro debut.

Shane Prante of Olympia, Wash., and Li Wang of Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., finished one stroke back at 275. Drew Reinland of Clarkston Country Club, tied with Murphy after Saturday, shot 72 and finished four stroked back at 278.

North Idaho College golf coach Russell Grove, the 2013 Lilac champion, shot 74 on Sunday and finished tied for 10 at 4-under 284.

In the championship amateur flight, recent Post Falls High graduate Cameron Flores finished fourth at 308, 13 strokes back of the winner. Preston Roth, formerly of Lakeland High and Community Colleges of Spokane, and now a rising senior at Whitworth, finished tied for fifth at 309.
