Roy Elmer Higgs, Jr.

Roy Elmer Higgs, Jr. was born Jan. 16, 1933, in Baltimore, Md., and passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Roy was a self-made man at a young age. He joined the Marines when he was 17 years old and was honorably discharged two years later.

He married his first wife, Nadine, and had two wonderful sons, Steve and Paul, of whom he was very proud. After Roy and Nadine parted ways, Roy met and married the love of his life, Lyn Jolin, on Sept. 28, 1980. Roy was a proud, sentimental man, becoming a loving father to Lyn’s five children.

Roy held a variety of jobs in his life, eventually joining Montgomery Wards and making his career in sales and management. Winning six company international trips that he and Lyn enjoyed together was a highlight of his career.

Roy rededicated his life to Christ and his walk with Jesus became central in his remaining years.

Roy and Lyn enjoyed living all over the country, especially loving the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They returned to Coeur d’Alene in 2004 to live near family.

Roy was preceded in death by his son, Paul Clarke, and survived by his wife, Lyn; son, Steve Clarke and Lyn’s five children who he claimed as his own: Charlene, Steven, Susan, Becky and David; their spouses and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 5, 2018, at Yates Funeral Homes, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A viewing will happen prior to the service from 10 to 10:45 a.m. A graveside service will happen at 2:15 p.m., at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, WA 99022.
