CUSTOMER: Loyalty not rewarded
My mother, Virginia Stanton, will be 95 in September. She has shopped at the Fred Meyer store every week since they opened. Mom has their rewards card and WAS considered a “Best Customer.” I say was because last week they refused to accept her personal check since she didn’t have a driver’s license. The cashier stated they had a new cash checking provider and needed a picture ID.
Virginia showed her Costco card with her name and picture on it. She showed her credit cards. She used her rewards card which clearly shows who she is. Not good enough. She has NEVER bounced a check and has been a very loyal customer. But since she no longer drives at 95, her patronage is no longer wanted. Sounds like age discrimination to me.
