ST. VINCENT: Thanks, community

At St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho, we have the pleasure every day to meet 100-150 members from our community who come to our Help Center. Some need help to find a home, or need a meal, or maybe a job. Others visit the Help Center donating warm blankets, and food or maybe wanting to volunteer. This is our community, a combination of young and old, rich and poor and many in-between.

Currently 40 percent of the families in Coeur d’Alene are living paycheck to paycheck, or what we call the working poor. One tragic life occurrence like an illness, a car breaking down or a divorce may cause a family to become homeless. This is the majority of people we currently serve.

The outpouring of love and donations from our community during the holidays and the beginning of this year has been amazing. We thank you for your support.

More than 72 years ago, parishioners at St. Thomas Catholic Church embarked on a mission to serve the poor and homeless in our area by creating a clothes closet. Their desire was to help others, no matter of religion, race, personal background or gender. St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho was born. Our mission remains the same today.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, our volunteers and our team, thank you for your support of St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho.
