Coeur d’Alene’s deputy city administrator was jailed over the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence and released on a $500 bond, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office’s booking log posted online Monday.

Sam W. Taylor, 33, of Post Falls, was arrested Sunday, but none of the agencies contacted Monday for information, including the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Coeur d’Alene Police or Post Falls Police could provide any details regarding the circumstances of his arrest.

Taylor declined to comment Monday, and Coeur d’Alene Mayor Steve Widmyer said he did not have enough information to provide public comment.

“I have no details on this, and since it is a personnel issue, I need to be brought up to speed on this,” Widmyer said. “I won’t have any comments at this time.”

City Council members were apprised of the incident, council member Dan Gookin said, but no details were provided.

Taylor is a graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and the University of Idaho. He was the top candidate after a nationwide search for the new employee and was hired two years ago as the city’s deputy administrator.
