In all my years in North Idaho, Canfield Mountain has always been the visual representation of home.
Growing up, whenever my family and I left town, it was always the sight of Canfield that meant I was just a minute-or-two away from our house I’ve always considered it to be the definitive natural beauty of our area (sorry, Lake Coeur d’Alene, I can’t see you from most of town).
Canfield Corners, a neighborhood nestled near the intersection of 15th Street and Dalton Avenue, offers a particularly striking view of Canfield Mountain — it’s close, but far enough west to offer a complete view. Canfield Corners is accessible from 15th, opposite Canfield Middle School and the expansive Canfield Sports Complex.
Darren Miller, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty, currently represents a home for sale in Canfield Corners. He touted the neighborhood’s central location to schools as just one of the reasons why listings rarely pop up in the area.
“It’s a great family neighborhood, and there’s a great little park that is fenced off and just for the neighborhood,” Miller said.
The cozy park area includes ample green space and a covered picnic area for residents to enjoy.
In addition to its proximity to Canfield Middle School, Dalton Elementary and Coeur d’Alene High School are also within walking distance. Being so close to CHS also helps those teenagers too young to drive get home easily without having to ride a bus or beg an older kid for a ride (been there).
The home Miller represents was built in 2006, with most of the homes in the neighborhood also built around that time. The home is just over 1,700 square feet and listed just under $260,000. A comparable home in the neighborhood sold in November just over that price, while another nearby home with just over 2,000 square feet is currently listed at $289,500.
Homeowners Association fees, which include access to the park, are $115 per quarter, Miller said.
This stretch of Coeur d’Alene, like everything in the area right now, is an active seller’s market.
“There is this myth that you should wait for spring or summer to list your home, but if you’re looking to sell, now is definitely the time,” Miller said.
