VANCOUVER, Wash. — The first half, Lake City weathered the Storm.

In the second half, the Timberwolves took it right at them.

Klaire Mitchell scored 17 points and Brooklyn Rewers added 15 as the Timberwolves beat the Skyview Storm of Vancouver, Wash., 60-41 in the Evergreen tournament.

“It was a really good game for us,” Lake City coach James Anderson said. “They pressed us full court and got into us a little bit. We adjusted in the second half, and really took it to them. It took us a while, but we found the right pace tonight.”

Lake City (10-2) faces Burlington-Edison today at 10 a.m. to conclude the tournament.

Emily Norton scored 12 points for Skyview (11-1).

BOISE — A tough day shooting — in every category — doomed Post Falls as the Trojans fell to Meridian in a second-round matchup at the Timber-Lion tournament at Timberline High.

“We shot 30 percent from the floor, 15 percent from 3-point range and 12 percent (1-for-8) from the free-throw line,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. “It’s tough to win when you struggle offensively.”

The Warriors, on the other hand, were 16-for-20 from the foul line. Graci Kolka led Meridian with 10 points.

Ali Carpenter contributed 13 points and six rebounds to lead Post Falls (2-11) in both categories.

“Ali attacked the basket and did a good job for us,” Allert said. “But overall, we did some good things (Thursday) night that we didn’t do tonight. We took a step back.”

The Trojans close out the Timber-Lion tournament with a 9:30 a.m. (PST) game vs. Rocky Mountain.

Lakeland sixth in

Sierra Nevada Classic

RENO, Nev. — Lakeland’s Sam Edelblute pinned his way through a 60-man bracket at 126 pounds to win Most Outstanding Wrestler in the Sierra Nevada Classic at the Reno Livestock Events Center.

“He was just dominant all weekened,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “He was a little disappointed with how he finished at Tri-State (fifth), and wanted to make a statement. And he did just that. To walk out of there with Most Outstanding Wrestler, that was pretty great.”

Alex Edelblute was fifth at 120, Ryan Quimby sixth at 145, Curtis Johnson seventh at 170 and Cage Hendry eighth at 152 for Lakeland, which competes in the Rollie Lane Invitational next Friday at Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. The Hawks finished with 152.5 points.

“Our guys really competed well,” Rob Edelblute said. “They’re really starting to step it up and see their true potential. Hopefully, we’ll keep building on that until state comes.”

Rancho Bernardo (Calif.) won the tournament with 208 points.
