Cardinal men top Snow; women to title game

- MEN’S BASKETBALL

MESA, Ariz. — Nate Pryor had 27 points for North Idaho College in a 68-58 win over Snow College in a consolation game in the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout on Friday at Mesa Community College.

Alphonso Anderson and RayQuan Evans scored 13 points each for NIC, which held Snow to 22-of-74 from the field, and 4-of-39 from beyond the 3-point line.

NIC (10-2) will face Central Arizona in the consolation championship game tonight at 5 p.m.

Brayden Johnson scored 13 points for Snow (13-2).

LONGVIEW, Wash. — Lake City High product Keara Simpson had 14 points and 16 rebounds for the Cardinals in a semifinal win over the Yaks in the Lower Columbia Holiday Classic at Myklebust Gymnasium.

Trailing 49-37 after three quarters, NIC outscored Yakima Valley 33-14 in the fourth quarter to rally for the win.

“We played so good in the fourth quarter, it was awesome to see,” NIC coach Chris Carlson said. “Our defense was flying around and just played great basketball. They jumped on us early, but we found a way. It was a great win. We had a couple of nice steals that led to some transition baskets. We just made some plays down the stretch.”

Halle Eborall, also a Lake City product, scored 13 points and Alivia Williams added 15 points for NIC (9-2), which faces host Lower Columbia College in the championship game today.

Nicole Rasmussen scored 17 points for Yakima Valley (9-2).
