Opening Thursday in its bigger location, Syringa Japanese Cafe & Sushi Bar is now at 1701 N. Fourth St., the former home of Bistro on Spruce.

Offering a standard Japanese food menu, owners Viljo and Autumn Basso have tables, booths, a sushi bar and a small party room open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, until 10 p.m. Friday and 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Outdoor tables will be on the seasonal patio.

The Bassos name their places with Idaho theme words, first with Syringa, then the Garnet Cafe (which they sold) and continuing with the Bluebird Midtown Eatery and the White Pine Coffee Shop. The future of the Syringa building, which housed the eatery since 2006, is still quiet.
