UI Extension forest health program set for Friday

| December 3, 2018 12:00 AM

Animals, plants, insects, and diseases can sometimes impede reforestation, wildlife habitat, or other forest stewardship goals. Current Topics in Forest Health is an annual program that updates forest owners, foresters, and others on methods to improve forest health.

This year’s program will be in Coeur d’Alene on Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at The Coeur d’Alene Resort, 115 S. Second Street.

Topics to be covered this year include:

- Investigating Pesticide Application Complaints: Chuck Hawley, Idaho State Department of Agriculture

- How Herbicides Work: Tim Prather, University of Idaho Extension

- An Introduction to the UI Center for Health in the Human Ecosystem: Shirley Luckhart, University of Idaho

- Five-spined Ips, and Other Insects Invading U.S. Regions Where They are Not Native: Tom Eckberg, Idaho Department of Lands

- Plant Blindness and New Invasive Species: Tim Prather

- What’s up with Round-up? Doug Finkelnberg, University of Idaho Extension

The program is eligible for five Idaho pesticide license re-certification credits, five Society of American Foresters continuing forestry education credits, and five Idaho Pro-Logger continuing education credits.

Current Topics in Forest Health is an Idaho Forest Stewardship program, co-sponsored by University of Idaho Extension, the Idaho Department of Lands, and many other agencies and organizations. For questions on the program, contact Chris Schnepf (208-446-1680).
