POST FALLS — Senior Gavven Desjarlais had 16 points and 10 rebounds as the new-look Post Falls Trojans opened their season with a 61-47 victory over the Rogers Pirates on Friday night at The Arena.

“I thought Gavven played well,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “He rebounded the ball well; he battled.”

Sophomore Alex Horning added 15 points and eight rebounds and junior Colby Gennett, the lone returnee from last year’s senior-laden squad, had 11 points, six boards and six steals.

“We’re very much a work in progress,” McLean said. “We showed what we can do in spurts. I think we’re going to be OK, but we have a long way to go.”

McLean also praised the play of his bench players — Tommy Hauser, Josiah Shields, Isaac Ballew and Jake Rutherford.

“They did a good job holding the rope and not putting themselves in a bad situation,” McLean said.

Cody Downey led Rogers (1-2) with 13 points.
