Courtesy photo The Timbers North FC 08 Boys Green soccer team played in the Northwest Cup this past weekend. On Friday the Timbers North lost 1-0 to the Spokane Sounders B08 North Rave, then tied Three Rivers SC B08 White 1-1. On Saturday they won 7-1 against Sandpoint Strikers FC Treman. On Sunday they defeated the Academy of Soccer Excellence 1-0. Goalkeepers during the tournament were: Preston Samayoa, Reese Crawford, Reilly Smith, Collin Storey, Benjamin Mello and Mitchell Rietze. Pictured is Thorns North FC Girls 07 Red defender Libby Morrisroe. The Thorns girls soccer team competed in the Les Schwab Northwest Cup in Spokane this past weekend. The girls finished fourth in the gold division, with Thorns defenders and goalkeepers giving up the least amount of points of all teams. The Thorns lost to the Spokane Sounders SO 2-1 and the Sandpoint Strikers Brinkmeier 1-0, before tying the Boise Timbers/Thorns 1-1. In the consolation game the Thorns defeated Surf Chaos 2-1. Courtesy photo The Timbers North FC 07 Boys Red soccer team finished second in the Northwest Cup soccer tournament in Spokane this past weekend. The Timbers first suffered a 5-3 loss to the Spokane Sounders B07 S/V, but later Friday they tied NLTC B07 Brasil 2-2. Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Boise Timbers moved the boys into the semifinals. The Timbers then defeated WPFC B07 Black 3-2 to advance to the championship game, where the Timbers North faced NLTC B07 Brasil again, this time coming up short with a 4-2 loss and a second-place finish. Timbers goals this tournament were scored by Liam Martin (6), Ronan Sternberg (4), Mason Thaxton (4) and Philip Du (1). DePasquale graduated this year as a level 10 and will be joining the 2018-19 Boise State gymnastics team. Last season the Broncos won a fourth-straight MRGC title with a team score of 196.875. The team GPA of 3.806 landed them the title No. 1 academic team in women’s gymnastics for 2018. Crain is one of thousands of gymnasts ages 8-10 who participated in TOPs State Testing. She qualified to National Testing by ranking in the top 100. She will travel to Indianapolis to participate in National Testing on Oct. 5-7. From National Testing, the top gymnasts will make the TOPs National A or B team. McCormick earned a spot on the Idaho National Judges Cup team. She scored an AA of 38.2 at the state meet, putting her in second place out of 41 athletes. The Idaho team will have 6 members and will compete at the 29th annual National Judges Cup Championships in Overland Park, Kan., on Jan. 4-5. Brenneman finished her first year as a college gymnast competing for NCAA Division III Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. The Gustavus gymnastics team took fifth at the 2018 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a season-high score of 185.725, the third-best team score in program history.

Courtesy photo Last weekend, Timbers North FC Boys 06 Red participated in the Northwest Cup in Spokane. On Friday afternoon, the Timbers North fell to the Pullman Pumas B06 2-1. Connor Mongan scored the Timbers’ lone goal on an assist from Jacob Molina. On Saturday, the Timbers won 2 matches. In the morning, the Timbers beat the Boise Timbers FC 5-0. Connor Jump led the Timbers with 2 goals. Noah Waddell had 1 goal and 1 assist. Jacob Molina and Brayden Ristic each added 1 goal for the Timbers. Kason Pintler and Lachlan May each had 1 assist. In the afternoon, the Timbers beat the Bozeman Blitzz FC Blue 2-0. Connor Jump and Brayden Ristic each had 1 goal for the Timbers. Kason Pintler and Gavin Samayoa each had 1 assist. Braden Latscha was in goal for both Timbers shutout wins. On Sunday morning, the Timbers lost a semifinal match to the Spokane Sounders Rave 3-1. Connor Mongan scored the Timbers’ lone goal on an assist from Jacob Molina. Idaho Junior Amateur: Brayden Ogle of Hayden tied for third in the boys 16-18 age division at last week’s Idaho Junior Amateur Championships at Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna.

Ogle shot 76-70-79--225, 9 over par, one stroke behind the winner, Drew Reinke of Meridian.

Cameron Johnson of Coeur d’Alene and Dylan Knight of Rathdrum tied for seventh. Johnson shot 77-74-77—228, and Knight shot 74-83-71—228.

Cole Jaworski of Hayden tied for fifth in the boys 13-15 age division. Jaworski shot 75-74-75—224, 8 over par (the 13-15 boys played from shorter tees than the 16-18 boys), 16 strokes behind the winner, Taylor Mortensen of Meridian.

In the girls 16-18 age division, Samantha Dement of Rathdrum finished eighth at 83-86-85—254, Maddie Morris of Hayden Lake ninth at 92-87-83—263. Makena Rauch of Moscow won it by three strokes with a 74-79-78—231.

Thorns North FC 09 Girls Yellow: The Thorns competed in the Northwest Cup in Spokane last weekend.

The girls started the tournament with a loss to the eventual tournament champions Three Rivers Reign 5-0 on Friday. They bounced back on Saturday with a 3-3 tie against Spokane Sounders South and an 11-1 win against Three Rivers Morris. The girls faced Three Rivers again on Sunday and won 5-2.

Goal scorers included Ryann Blair, Olivia Smith, Savannah Spencer, Ashley Yates, Chloe Burkholder, Kate Story, Addison Karoblis and Clara Schmidt.
