A customer appreciation event Saturday at a Post Falls shooting range collected 16,880 pounds of food for the Post Falls Food Bank within five hours.

The community benefit event, which includes a swap meet, is in its seventh year at Center Target Sports, 3295 E. Mullan Ave.

“We also collected 67 pints of blood for the Inland Northwest Blood Center, which we’ve been told will help 220 local people in need,” said a news release from Center Target owners Peggy and Ed Santos. “We also collected a new record of toys for us with 6 1/2 totes full for Toys for Tots.”

Peggy and Ed are proud of how the shooting community has come together to make each year of the customer appreciation community benefit event better than the last, said the news release.

Center Target Sports is a past recipient of the Mayor’s Award for the most “Community Oriented Business of the Year.” It was named 2013 Post Falls Business of the Year, Shot business Magazine named it the Best Shooting Range in the USA, and Glock Corporation named it the Best Indoor Range in the USA.
