- PREP FOOTBALL

The Lake City High freshman football team will hold its first practice of the season on Monday starting at 8 a.m.

Players must have their paperwork — physical and proof of insurance — on file to participate. Players are reminded to have shorts, football cleats and their own mouthpiece.

Lunch will be provided.

- JUNIOR TACKLE FOOTBALL

For the sixth year in a row, the Coeur d’Alene High Viking football coaches, in association with the Viking Touchdown Club and Viking Booster Club, will be offering a two-day football skills camp at no cost to any Coeur d’Alene Junior Tackle football player (fifth to eighth grade) on Aug. 21-22 at Coeur d’Alene High from 1 to 3 p.m. each day.

Player check-in starts on Aug. 21 at noon.

Players need to arrive with football cleats, practice jersey, mouth guard and full pads and helmet.

- SELECT SOCCER

- Timbers North FC 2007 boys made their debut this past weekend at the Mt Hood Challenge soccer tournament in Portland, OR. Timbers North defeated the Capital FC Timbers 2-1, Harbor Premier 4-1, and FC Portland 4-0 to advance to the championship game in their division. Timbers North finished second after a 2-1 loss to Three Rivers Soccer Club.

- The Thorns North 07 girls team finished second at the Mt. Hood Challenge this past weekend. The girls started the tournament off with a big 6-2 win against BFCT Red. Then suffered an 0-2 loss against THELO United.

They went on to win 4-1 against WT Copa and in the final pool play game beat HSC Bayern Red 2-1 to advance to the finals.

They battled THELO United again, and in tough game came up short with a 2-1 loss. Team goals were scored by: Evelyn Bowie (2), Riley Brazle (1), Rachel Corette (1), Kennedy Hartzell (3), Ellie McGowan (1), Annabelle Rogers (3), and Natalie Thompson (2).
