Introducing holistic health coach
Hayden Health and Wellness is excited to announce our weekly column, Holistic Health Coach. Holistic health care is based on the premise that optimal health is not just the absence of disease, but an overall positive state of being for the “whole” person. Health is achieved by preventing or correcting the root causes of symptoms and disease — not just alleviating, masking or treating symptoms. If one part of your body is not functioning properly, odds are that other parts will be affected.
Our goal with Holistic Help Coach is to provide a community resource for those seeking information about a more natural, whole body approach to healing and maintaining health. Holistic medicine emphasizes lifestyle changes, noninvasive therapies and remedies, improving function and enhancing the body’s ability to heal itself. We want to help you navigate the sometimes confusing and overwhelming world of natural health.
The relationship between a holistic health practitioner and patient is a partnership. The practitioner works with the patient to study and understand how the body is functioning as a whole, and treat the patient as a unique individual. The patient has to be an active participant in their approaches towards day-to-day wellness and healing to keep the body in balance.
Holistic health care is patient empowering. It focuses on lifestyle. It does not start and stop when you walk in and out of a practitioner’s office. What the patient does on a daily basis to tend to their mind, body and spirit is as important as any treatment they may receive from a practitioner. Some of the most important topics in holistic health are proper diet and exercise, emotional and spiritual care, attitude and behavior modifications and environmental measures.
When it comes to holistic health, some of the major components influencing the body’s health and balance that must be evaluated include: posture, microbiomes, climatic factors, diet, exercise, rest, stress, toxins, purposefulness, sexual health and more. These factors demonstrate the relationship and interactions between an individual and his or her environment that might influence an individual’s optimal health.
