Betty Ellen Hanks, 91
Betty Ellen Hanks, 91, of Spokane Valley, Wash., passed away peacefully on Aug. 3, 2018.
Betty was born March 21, 1927, in Leigh, Neb., to Henry and Goldie Siebrasse. She graduated from Dekalb High School in 1945.
She moved to Idaho in 1961 to live with her brother and his family. There, she attended beauty school and worked as a checker at Pickwick Grocery, where she met her future husband, Nathan. They were married May 18, 1963. Together, they moved to Rose Lake, Idaho, where they built a home and raised their two daughters. In 2003, they moved to Spokane Valley to be closer to family.
She enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, gardening and spending time with friends and family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters, Darla (Bob) Yoseph, Trisha (Jim) Zoccola and six grandchildren, Jordan (Brenden), Alex, Abigail, Jonathan, Olivia and Elizabeth.
A memorial celebration and open house will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2018, at her residence. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
