Wanda Marie Sims, 82

Wanda Marie Sims, 82, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Schneidmiller Hospice of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Wanda was born in Gainesville, Mo., on Aug. 25, 1935, to Fred and Nora (Riggs) Flack.

She was the oldest of five siblings: Don Flack, Eugene Flack, Pauline Flack and Barbara Flack. She spent her early years in Gainesville before moving to Sacramento, Calif. She grew up in Sacramento and later met Jack Sims. Jack and Wanda were married on June 21, 1952. They had three daughters: Patsy, Judy and Kathy. Wanda worked at Blue Diamond Almond Growers Factory in California. The family moved to the Rimrock in Hayden Lake, Idaho, in 1971.

Wanda worked many jobs: Tucker’s Box Factory in Hayden Lake; and the Forest Service, Holiday Inn, and a nursing home all in Coeur d’Alene. After her husband, Jack, passed away on July 13, 1996, she moved to Heartland Crossing in Coeur d’Alene. She lived there for the remainder of her years. She was known for her hard work, big heart, selflessness, stubbornness and her love for her family. She always had a special way to make you laugh at a time when you least expected it. She could also put you in your place. She had no problem speaking her mind. Her favorite things in life were being with her family and going to church and learning God’s word at Coeur d’Alene Nazarene Church.

She is greatly loved and will be missed by many. She is survived by her brother, Don Flack and sister, Barbara (Flack) Grant of California; her daughters, Patsy (Beno) Andrew of Seattle, Wash, Judy Beck of Coeur d’Alene and Kathy (Dwight) Overland of Athol, Idaho. She has seven grandchildren, Amber Andrews (Chris) Parkos of Seattle, Wash.; Isaiah Andrews of Seattle, Brandy (Beck) Nelson of Post Falls, Idaho, Stephanie Beck (Shangalla) Bess of North Dakota, Rachel Beck (Jared) Vernon of Post Falls, Bridget Overland (Sam) Hanna of Athol and Kyle (Megan Hill) Overland of Athol. She has four great-grandchildren, Jax Vernon, Brody Vernon, Rylee Hanna and Everly Overland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline; parents, Fred and Nora Flack; brother, Eugene Flack and her husband, Jack Sims.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at Coeur d’Alene Church of the Nazarene, 4000 N. Fourth St. Coeur d’Alene, with a reception to follow at the church.
