Keith Wayne Scheuermann, 65

Keith Wayne Scheuermann, 65, of Hauser, Idaho (formerly of Idaho Falls), passed away suddenly on March 20, 2018, at his home of a pulmonary embolism.

Keith was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Amityville (Long Island), N.Y., to Arthur Scheuermann Jr. and Louise Phillips Scheuermann. He grew up and attended schools in the suburbs of New York City.

His love of science and chemistry led him to pursue a degree in medicine. He graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, in 1978, and went on to specialize in anesthesiology at the Medical College of Richmond, Va. There he completed his internship, residency and fellowship.

During his residency in Richmond, Keith met the future mother of his children, Cynthia Schmidtke, R.N.

In 1982, Keith joined Intermountain Anesthesia and moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Cindy followed later and they were married on Oct. 15, 1983. He later worked at and became part owner of the Idaho Falls Surgical Center on 17th Street until it closed in 2011.

In February 1987, Keith and Cindy were blessed with twin girls, Sarah and Lydia.

Following an extensive study of the Bible, Keith became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1991. He was active in the field ministry, encouraging people to read their Bible and apply it in their lives. Keith particularly enjoyed volunteering in the construction of new Kingdom Halls in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming.

Keith loved the outdoors, exploring God’s Creation. Having been raised in the city, he was drawn to the open spaces and beauty of the mountains. Often, he could be found camping in Wyoming’s Wind River Range near the Green River Lakes. Or perhaps exploring Idaho’s Copper Basin or Wild Horse Canyon country for weeks at a time during the fall months. He also enjoyed playing pinochle with family and friends. His smile was infectious, especially when he held a double pinochle or a thousand aces.

Sadly, his wife, Cindy, died in August 2013. His “granddogs,” Foxer and Myra, helped to fill the ensuing days. Myra rode the four-wheeler with Keith as he irrigated and cared for his property on Foothill Road while Foxer ran alongside.

Keith volunteered to help with the remodel of the Idaho Falls Kingdom Hall on Jefferson Avenue. He particularly worked on and trained others in installing sound systems. Here he met Maggie Skipworth, one of the hundreds of volunteers from across the region. She became the next love of Keith’s life. They were married at his home in Idaho Falls on April 11, 2015. Working as a team, they settled in North Idaho and started building their home and life together.

Keith is survived by his loving wife, Maggie Scheuermann; daughter Sarah Scheuermann; daughter Lydia Scheuermann; and stepson Rowdy Reeves, his wife, Audra and their three sons.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8162 W. Nagel St., Rathdrum, ID 83858.
