Matt's Place Foundation fundraiser Oct. 7

| September 29, 2017 1:00 AM

HarvestFest, a new fundraising event to help local PALS (people with ALS) will take place Oct. 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. at CDA Cellars, 3890 N. Schreiber Way, Coeur d’Alene.

Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis attacks motor neurons, cells that control the muscles.

Local beers, wines and ciders will be available during HarvestFest with all proceeds going to help Matt’s Place Foundation, a local nonprofit, meet its fundraising goals.

Live music and complimentary appetizers will be served.

Local mayors — Steve Widmyer, Coeur d’Alene; Steve Griffitts, Hayden; and Steve Roberge, Dalton Gardens — will participate in a friendly grape-stomping competition, and Kerri Thoreson will be the emcee for the day.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online at http://cdacellars.orderport.net/merchandise/Live-Events or at the gate the day of the event. Tickets include two free drinks and a commemorative wine glass or beer stein.

Matt’s Place Foundation, www.mattsplacefoundation.com, is a 501(c)3 that helps support families affected with ALS in the community with home modifications, wheelchair ramps and the first ALS-adapted smart home for PALS and their families to live in while they battle the disease. Matt’s Place Foundation has an all-volunteer board.
