COEUR d’ALENE — Emily Kladar totaled 17 kills, one block and one ace, and the Coeur d’Alene Vikings swept the Post Falls Trojans 25-17, 25-11, 25-22 in 5A Inland Empire League play Thursday night, in the 12th annual Volleyball 4 the Cure match between the two schools.

Kelly Horning added 12 kills and a block for Coeur d’Alene (8-8, 1-3 5A IEL). Taylin Rowley added 23 assists, Lauren Phillips 11 assists, Sam Swayze 19 digs and one ace, Sarah Wilkey nine digs, Elly Schraeder three blocks.

“Post Falls passed nails,” Coeur d’Alene coach Dee Pottenger said. “We were serving everything we had and they would just put it on the setter to run their offense. I’m so proud of the defense my girls played.”

Macky Morris had seven kills, Tessa Sarff and Allie Munday five kills each for Post Falls (16-9, 1-3). Kayla Mayo had 11 assists, Kalli Minden 10 digs, Munday two blocks.

Before the match, the teams honored Freeman High sophomore Rhea Jansen, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in March. She played club volleyball with Kladar, Munday and Sarff. Jansen was able to return to her club season after seven weeks of intense chemotherapy, and is currently in remission.

The amount of money raised Thursday was not immediately available, but Pottenger said in the 12 years of the event, Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls have now raised over $50,000 for breast cancer awareness.

Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls next play at the Sheridan Volleyball Classic tonight and Saturday in Spokane.

COEUR d’ALENE — Rylee Peterson had 22 assists for the Panthers in a 17-25, 26-28, 25-17, 25-18, 15-3 win over the Wildcats in Intermountain League play at Holy Family Catholic School.

“After losing that (second set) 28-26, the girls realized we could play with these kids,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Cynthia Beyer said. “The girls did a nice job of getting back and Kellogg did as well.”

Sydney Schillinger had eight aces, Maddie Kociela six kills, Megan Mackinney eight kills and Hannah Burt five digs for Coeur d’Alene Charter (5-5, 1-4 IML), which travels to Kootenai on Saturday.

HARRISON FLATS — Madison Napierala had 14 assists, seven kills and four blocks as the host Warriors defeated the Knights 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 in North Star League play.

Kaili Gentry, recently back in the lineup following a knee injury, added nine kills and five digs for Kootenai (6-3, 4-2 NSL). Courtney Lamb had 10 digs and two kills, and Aspen Green had seven digs and two kills.

Kootenai plays host to Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy on Saturday.

Lakeside (3-10, 1-5) plays Genesis Prep on Saturday at Post Falls Middle School.

CLARK FORK — The Wampus Cats swept the Jaguars 25-20, 25-16, 25-14 in a North Star League match.

Genesis Prep (6-4, 4-2 NSL) hosts Lakeside on Saturday at Post Falls Middle School.

Clark Fork is 11-2, 7-0 in league.

LIBERTY LAKE — Delaney LePard had 15 digs, Melanie Lund eight aces as the Royals captured the nonleague match 25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20 at the HUB Sports Center.

Layla Noordam added seven kills, Kaylee Prosch 14 assists for North Idaho Christian (6-4), which plays host to Christian Heritage of Edwall, Wash., and Country Christian of Pasco on Saturday at Holy Family Catholic School in Coeur d’Alene.
