Timberlake topples Cd'A Charter
COEUR d’ALENE — The visiting Timberlake Tigers swept the Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy Panthers 25-15, 25-19, 25-16 in Intermountain volleyball Tuesday night at Holy Family School.
“We had long rallies, but once again we had trouble putting the ball down,” said first-year Charter coach Cynthia Beyer, a longtime assistant at Timberlake. “I thought we did OK — we made them work for it.”
Kenzie Dean had nine kills and five aces for Timberlake (7-9 overall, 3-1 Intermountain League), McKeeley Tonkin had 13 assists, and Kylie Marneris had 12 digs. The Tigers travel to Priest River on Thursday.
Megan Mackinney and Chloe Turnbull had three kills apiece for Charter (4-5, 0-4). Rylee Peterson had eight assists and Hannah Burt eight digs for the Panthers, who host Kellogg on Thursday.

LEWISTON — Arlaina Stephenson had 11 kills and three aces and Klaire Mitchell seven kills and 28 assists to power the Lake City Timberwolves to a 25-20, 25-13, 25-9 win over the Lewiston Bengals in a 5A Inland Empire League match at Booth Hall.
“We had a couple of early serve errors and were able to get them out of their offense,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “We made a couple of defensive adjustments and picked up the tempo and it was trouble for them.”
Ashley Kaufman had eight kills and two aces, Chloe Knudson 12 digs and two aces, Ashley Reyes 12 digs, Zion Nelson three blocks and Claire Heberer two blocks for Lake City (15-0, 4-0 5A IEL), which hosts Sandpoint tonight.
Lewiston is 19-4, 2-2.

RATHDRUM — The visiting Vikings rallied after losing the first two sets to beat the Hawks 20-25, 19-25, 25-15, 25-10, 15-9 in nonleague play at Hawk Court.
Kelly Horning had 18 kills and three aces for Coeur d’Alene (7-8). Emily Kladar added 13 kills and four aces, Taylin Rowley 21 assists and three aces, Lauren Phillips 12 assists, Sam Swayze 16 digs, Elly Schraeder four blocks.
“We struggled with their tough serves and size in some rotations in the beginning,” Coeur d’Alene coach Dee Pottenger said. “We got settled in and played much better in the final sets. Sam dug some great balls and Emily was key in our offense.”
Keely DeVore had 24 assists and four aces for Lakeland (9-13). Mattisyn Cope had 17 kills, 19 digs and six aces, Brooke Mayberry 22 assists, Daphane Carroll 15 kills and 13 digs, Katy Ryan six blocks.
Coeur d’Alene plays host to Post Falls on Thursday in the annual Volleyball 4 the Cure breast cancer awareness match.
Lakeland plays at the Sheridan Volleyball Classic on Friday and Saturday in Spokane.

SANDPOINT — Allison Munday totaled 13 kills to help Post Falls hold off Sandpoint 25-14, 25-23, 27-25 in nonleague play at Les Rogers Court.
Kayla Mayo tallied 21 assists, Mackenzie Morris 11 digs and Tessa Sarff nine kills and three blocks for the Trojans (16-8), who had to work to earn the season sweep.
“We played with a lot of resiliency tonight,” said Trojans head coach Matt Barkley. “Sandpoint’s a great team, they didn’t give up and we battled back.”
Grace Hicks led the Bulldogs (7-11) with eight kills.
Post Falls plays at Coeur d’Alene on Thursday in the Volleyball 4 the Cure match.

HARRISON FLATS — Emily Martinez had 11 assists and five aces for the Jaguars in a 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 win over the Warriors in North Star League play.
“It’s always good to get a win,” Genesis Prep coach Mindy Buck said. “It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but we’ll take the ‘W’. It was a good win after being whipped by Clark Fork.”
Bella Murekatete had six kills and six blocks, Rachel Schroeder seven digs and Josie Scribner six kills for Genesis Prep (6-3, 4-1 NSL), which travels to Clark Fork on Thursday.
Madison Napierala had six kills, Brittney Larson eight assists and Kaili Gentry four digs for Kootenai (5-3, 3-2), which hosts Lakeside on Thursday.

PLUMMER —Samantha Adrian had nine kills and Nicole Middleton eight digs and three aces for the Knights in a 23-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 18-16 loss to the Miners in a North Star League match at Ron Miller Court.
“We gave away too many points,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “We played some good ball and were down 11-4 in the fifth set and fought back into that one. We’ve been playing some decent ball, but need to improve our consistency and be confident in what we’re doing.”
Alyssa SiJohn had 32 assists and Glory Olson three aces for Lakeside (3-9, 1-4 NSL), which travels to Kootenai on Thursday.
