IDFG snaps gator report

COEUR d'ALENE — Did you hear the one about an alligator turned loose in the southern part of Lake Coeur d'Alene?

Idaho Department of Fish and Game did, had two officers investigate and nothing appeared legitimate about the report.

"We have no reason to believe anything happened," said Phil Cooper, of the IDFG, adding a report was made about a month ago and the department hasn't heard any since although rumors continue to swirl.

"Even if one was released, we're not sure how it would even survive."

Cooper said IDFG doesn't know who is spreading the rumor.

Jennifer Fletcher, spokeswoman for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, said her agency hasn't heard anything that would substantiate the claim either.
