PLUMMER — Devin Whaley-Arroyo ran for two touchdowns and the Lakeside Knights held off the visiting Kootenai Warriors 28-22 in a White Star League game on Friday night.

“It was a big win for us,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “We were able to run the ball and convert on some plays in the third quarter when we needed them. The game really came down to whoever didn’t make the most mistakes, and we made a few less than Kootenai tonight.”

Gage Maitland scored on a 30-yard touchdown run with a little over a minute remaining for Kootenai, who were unable to stop the clock after a Lakeside recovery on the ensuing kickoff after using all three timeouts on the scoring drive.

“Devin had an excellent game,” Dohrman said. “Kootenai didn’t allow us anything on the outside, but he had some big runs up the middle.”

Lakeside (2-2, 2-1 WSL) hosts Mullan next Friday.

Kootenai (2-1, 2-1) travels to Clark Fork next Friday.
