PASCO, Wash. — After a start termed by North Idaho College coach Dan Hogan as “flat,” the Cardinals pushed two goals across in the second half to beat Columbia Basin College 2-0 in Northwest Athletic Conference play Saturday.
In the 57th minute, Zoe Lee broke through the back line of the Hawks and was fouled by CBC’s goalkeeper as Lee made a move to get past her. Marisol Guerrero converted the penalty kick, then set up the clinching goal by Linnea Pretzer late in the match.
NIC’s second goal was started by Guerrero attacking along the top of the penalty area from the left side and playing a ball into Pretzer in the center. Pretzer had to “ride” through a tackle and then slotted the shot into the right side of the goal.
NIC (5-3-0, 3-1-0 NWAC) travels to Blue Mountain in Pendleton, Ore., on Friday.
CBC dropped to 4-2-2, 3-2-1.
