POST FALLS — Diego Esquivel had two goals and an assist as the Post Falls Trojans won their third straight game, beating the Lewiston Bengals 4-0 in 5A Inland Empire League play Thursday in Lewiston.

“I think we picked up where we left off at Saint Georges, knocking the ball around,” Post Falls (5-2-0, 2-1-0 5A IEL) coach Gabe Lawson said, referring to a 6-1 win in Spokane on Tuesday. “In the second half we had 73 percent possession of the ball, and it was around 70 for the game. We didn’t give them many opportunities. Our back line is just stellar, and it allows us to do a lot of things going forward.”

Lewiston is 0-4-0 in league.

RATHDRUM — Once they were scored upon, the Vikings got things going.

Megan Drake put Coeur d’Alene ahead for good in the 37th minute and capped the scoring in the 55th for the Vikings in a nonleague win against the Hawks at Sunrise Rotary Field.

“We came out and tried a couple of different things and got scored on,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “And that motivated the girls. Once we got scored on, we started picking it up and played with more energy and things started clicking for us. The girls were moving the ball around really well in the second half and it was a good half for us.”

Kylie Hanson had a goal and an assist for Coeur d’Alene (5-3), which hosts Moscow on Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Eliason Cherrstrom scored a hat trick as the host Panthers beat the Bulldog junior varsity at Community United Methodist Church Field.

“I was pleased to see the player movement that I saw on the field,” Cd’A Charter coach Stacy Smith said. “We struggled with a few technical parts of our game in the first half but were still able to put three away in the half. I was also pleased with our upperclassman leadership and poise on the field. Our younger players seem to rise to the expectations of the upperclassman. Second half we weathered the numbers that Sandpoint sent forward while trying out a couple of different combinations on the field.”

Coeur d’Alene Charter (5-0-1) travels to Orofino on Saturday.
