MANAGER: Still wrong idea
I read very carefully former County Commissioner Dan Green’s articles in the Press defending his previously rejected idea for a county manager position. His assertion that the manager would be more responsive to the voting public is absolutely untrue. To remove a county manager whom the citizenry disagrees with would most likely require the replacement of three of the proposed five-part time county commissioners, which would take years to accomplish if at all.
Another of Mr. Green’s main reasons for promoting the county manager position, besides efficiency, is tax savings but while Mr. Green was County Commissioner, he wasted $186,000 paying for a Colorado consulting company to rewrite our country codes which was strongly rejected by the citizens. These codes just happened to correspond with the UN Agenda 21 (https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org), which would have imposed such restrictions on rural landowners that most would lose their property. With that surprising move, Mr. Green lost the trust of freedom-loving citizenry which is why he didn’t run for commissioner again.
Apparently, he promotes the county manager position so strongly because he desires to be back in power in that position. We opposed his autocratic ideas in the past, oppose him now and always will. Defending the county manager position under the banner of “efficiency” is nothing more than a feeble attempt to clothe a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
