Genesis Prep edges Lakeside in wild match
PLUMMER — Both the Genesis Prep Jaguars and Lakeside Knights are starting to figure things out on the volleyball court.
On Thursday, it was the visiting Jaguars that found the way to finish the match.
Bella Murekatete had 11 kills, six digs and two blocks and Josie Scribner had 19 kills, four aces and two blocks for the Jaguars in a 22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 24-26, 18-16 North Star League win over the Knights at Ron Miller Court.
“We are starting to figure things out and communicate on the court,” Genesis Prep coach Mindy Buck said. “We had to fight hard and we were focused and fought for every point. We were up by five points in the fifth game and kind of let them back into it, but we focused and finished the match.”
Samantha Adrian had eight kills and three aces, Alyssa SiJohn 41 assists, Sativa Bohlman six digs, Tenley Lambert six digs and Glory Olson three blocks and three aces for Lakeside (3-8, 1-3 NSL), which hosts Wallace in its senior night on Tuesday.
“It was two well-matched teams,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “We played really strong defense, but we had too many unforced errors in inopportune times. Overall, our play has improved over the last week and a half. The girls have really been working together and playing as a team. They’re doing the things we’ve been working in practice, and it’s coming together now.”
Trinity Morrow had 16 assists, Emily Martinez 13 assists and four aces for Genesis Prep (5-2, 5-1), which hosts Clark Fork on Saturday at Post Falls Middle School.

MULLAN — Madison Napierala had six kills, eight digs and an ace as the visitingWarriors beat the Tigers 25-13, 25-11, 25-18 in North Star League play at the Mullan Pavilion.
Courtney Lamb added 15 digs and one ace, and Brittney Larson had 11 assists and eight digs for Kootenai (5-2, 3-1 NSL), which plays host to Genesis Prep next Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — After an off night defensively against Central Valley on Wednesday, the host Timberwolves tightened up its defense and made quick work of the Bears in nonleague play, 25-11, 25-15, 25-12.
“Tonight was really all about getting back to basics,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “We played really good team defense, flowed together as a collective unit.”
Ashley Kaufman had 11 kills and three aces for Lake City (14-0). Klaire Mitchell had 32 assists, 13 digs and two aces, Arlaina Stephenson eight kills, Zion Nelson six kills and four blocks, Ashley Reyes 19 digs and two aces, Reilley Chapman eight digs, Claire Heberer two blocks.
Lake City travels to Lewiston on Tuesday.

POST FALLS — The host Trojans beat Sandpoint 25-16, 25-17, 25-13, then lost in five to Mt. Spokane, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 18-25, 15-7, in nonleague play at The Arena.
Against Sandpoint, Allison Munday had 13 kills, Macky Morris and Tessa Sarff eight each for Post Falls. Kayla Mayo had 17 assists, Courtney Finney 14, and Alison Carpenter had four aces.
Against Mt. Spokane, Munday had 24 kills and four blocks, Mayo 28 assists, Finney 21 assists, Morris 16 digs, Kalli Minden four aces.
“We came out and played with a lot determination and passion tonight,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “Our serve-receive was spot on against Sandpoint and we were able to spread the ball around to all our hitters.
“The Mt. Spokane match was a fun match. We battled hard but just couldn’t handle their serve for a series of points in the fifth set, and we dug ourselves into a hole that we couldn’t get out of. I am very pleased with what I saw out of our team tonight.”
Post Falls (15-8) travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.

SPIRIT LAKE — Kadi Bateman had 14 assists as the visiting Badgers beat the Tigers 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 in Intermountain League play.
Miranda Wenk had eight kills, Jadyn Bennett nine digs, Jerzie Pluid two blocks, Micah Whitaker two aces.
Kenzie Dean had six kills and five digs for Timberlake (6-9, 2-1 IML). McKeeley Tonkin had 10 assists, and Graci Allen and Caitlin Garwood had one block each.
Timberlake travels to Coeur d’Alene Charter on Tuesday.

KELLOGG — Kaylee Auer had 10 kills and Devyn Wilson had nine digs and three aces for the Lumberjacks in a 25-15, 25-18, 25-13 nonleague win over the Wildcats at Andrews Gymnasium.
“We started out pretty strong and held them through the first game,” St. Maries coach Rachele Asbury said. “Kellogg’s a strong team, but we were able to make some adjustments and come out with the win.”
Dakotah Wilks had 20 assists and three aces, Kaci Haeg three blocks for St. Maries (8-8), which resumes Central Idaho League play at Grangeville on Saturday.

COEUR d’ALENE — The host Royals took the first two sets from the Mountain Christian League leaders before The Oaks came back for a 19-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-13 victory at Holy Family Catholic School.
Sarah Luck had nine kills, Kaylee Prosch 12 assists for North Idaho Christian, which plays at the Bonners Ferry junior varsity on Monday. Katie Gipson added seven aces, Melanie Lund 14 digs for the Royals.
