COEUR d’ALENE — Juan Martinez scored the lone goal on a soggy afternoon on Wednesday as the Walla Walla Warriors (6-2, 3-1 East Region) beat North Idaho College 1-0 in an East Region match in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Eisenwinter Field.

“With the rain, wet, and muddy field, neither team put much together,” NIC coach Ken Thompson said. “It was definitely a competitive game. With them getting the lead before the half, they were able to play more defense and we couldn’t create enough chances near the goal.”

NIC (2-4, 1-1 East Region) travels to Columbia Basin College in Pasco on Saturday.

First half — 1, WW, Juan Martinez (Enrique Leal), 36:03. Second half — none.

Shots on goal — WW 6, NIC 1.

Saves — WW, Jorge Lierenas 1; NIC, Tanner Sayer 3, Luis Hernandez 3.
