Make reservations today for Norwegian fair
A Norwegian Heritage Fair will take place Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St., Coeur d’ Alene.
Scandinavian-themed items for sale will include rosemaling, lefse, 2018 calendars, Christmas cards and T-shirts. Vendors will also offer loose tea, embroidered, crocheted and sewn items, Star Wars colletibles, hand-crafted snowflakes and more.
Waffles will be served from 10 to 11 a.m. only — made Norwegian-style and served with jam — each set of five hearts plus coffee will be $2.
A 12:30 luncheon offers pork chops in homemade Norwegian sauerkraut, potatoes, dilled carrots, fruit salad, lefse, dessert and coffee. Entertainment during the luncheon will be David Powell and his harp guitar. The newest CD by the Tonedevil Brothers (Dave & Tony) will be available.
Reservations for the luncheon (adults/$8, 6-18/$4, under 6 free) are recommended and are due today. To make a reservation, call Marge Johnson, (208) 772-2903, with name, phone number and size of party.
Sponsored by Sons of Norway, this event is being held in Coeur d’Alene for the first time in more than a decade, as this 107-year-old local lodge met in Post Falls since 2006, until the Odd Fellows building was sold last year to the county.
The fair also offers activities at a children’s corner, several displays and a silent auction. A variety of used Norwegian language materials will also be for sale.
