Lake City makes quick work of Lakeland

COEUR d’ALENE — Ashley Kaufman had 13 kills and two blocks as the Lake City Timberwolves swept the Lakeland Hawks 25-11, 25-12, 25-10 in nonleague volleyball Tuesday night.

Klaire Mitchell had 23 assists, eight kills and two aces for Lake City (12-0). Arlaina Stephenson had seven kills, Ashley Reyes nine digs, Chloe Knudson and Reilley Chapman seven digs each, Claire Heberer two blocks.

“I thought we played really good team defense tonight,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “We were playing a pretty quick tempo for the most part, and our serving caused them a lot of problems.”

For Lakeland (9-12), Daphne Carroll had five kills, Keely DeVore five digs, Katy Ryan three blocks, Mattisyn Cope two aces.

Lake City plays host to Central Valley tonight at 7.

Lakeland returns to action next Tuesday at home vs. Coeur d’Alene.

LEWISTON — The visiting Vikings won the first game, but the Bengals came back to take the 5A Inland Empire League match 22-25, 25-11, 25-22, 25-19 at Booth Hall.

Kelly Horning had 14 kills and two blocks for Coeur d’Alene (6-7, 0-3 5A IEL). Emily Kladar added 11 kills, Taylin Rowley 19 assists and one ace, Lauren Phillips 12 assists and 10 digs, Sam Swayze one ace.

Lewiston is 2-1 in league.

Coeur d’Alene is scheduled to travel to University on Thursday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Megan Mackinney had eight kills, four aces and 15 assists for the Panthers in a 25-22, 25-19, 25-8 nonleague win over the Royals at Holy Family Catholic School.

Chloe Turnbull had seven kills and two blocks for Coeur d’Alene Charter (4-3), which plays at Priest River on Thursday.

“Chloe just had a fantastic game, passed the ball well, and did a fantastic job for us,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Cynthia Beyer said. “We passed and served the ball well, but need to work on putting the ball down.”

North Idaho Christian (5-3) will face The Oaks on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic School.

Lakeside

PLUMMER — The host Knights stumbled out the gate before playing a couple of tight sets with the Wampus Cats in a 25-5, 25-23, 26-24 North Star League loss at Ron Miller Court.

“We played scared,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “They came out and hit a couple really hard balls at us, and I think we played scared that first set. We got on a little roll in the second set, and that instilled some confidence in them. We played really well the last two sets.”

Alyssa SiJohn had 18 assists and two aces for Lakeside (3-7, 1-2 NSL). Satava Bohlman had three kills and three digs, Samantha Adrian three kills, Glory Olson two aces and a block.

Ellie Kiebert had six aces, four kills and five digs for Clark Fork (8-2, 4-0). Brooke Stevens had 32 assists and Hailey Bristol had 11 kills.

Lakeside plays host to Genesis Prep on Thursday.

HARRISON FLATS — Madison Napierala had 18 kills and 11 digs as the host Warriors beat the Miners 25-23, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18 in North Star League play.

Brittney Larson added 39 assists and nine digs for (4-2, 2-1 NSL). Courtney Lamb had 18 digs, Amanda Wine seven kills and six digs, Faith Pfeiffer six kills.

Kootenai travels to Mullan on Thursday.
