GARDENS: Growing fondness

Dear Coeur d’Alene Garden Club,

I would like to send a loud shout out to the Coeur d’Alene Garden Club for their continuous support of our greenhouse and school vegetable gardens at Hayden Meadows Elementary School. Thanks to the Garden Club, we are able to continue to grow and improve our efforts to educate our students about gardening, and to use these opportunities as catalysts to teach our core subjects of math, science, English, and so on.

I am proud to say our students get wet, get dirty, grow flowers and vegetables, and then walk away with green thumbs and sharper minds. In addition, the gardens they plant in the spring produce a variety of vegetables that are distributed to local food banks and our senior center. Again, with our deepest appreciation, thank you Coeur d’Alene Garden Club!
