Robert Louis Shannon Jr., 70

With his sweetheart by his side, Bob Shannon passed away at his home on Patriot Day, Monday, Sept. 11, 2017.

He is survived by his brothers, Don William Brown and Thomas Grady Shannon; and his children, Robert Louis Shannon III, Skylar Cade Shannon, Tessa Elizabeth Starling Shannon, Shannon L. Shannon and numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Louis Shannon Sr.; his mother, Melville Vera (Vaughan) Shannon; brothers Harry Lloyd Brown and George Vaughn Brown; sister Dorothy Marie Sandall and his eldest son, Richard L. Shannon.

Bob was born on Aug. 13, 1947, in Portland, Ore. He began working at the age of 6 in the strawberry fields and from then on always had a job. At age 13, he received his first rod and reel and fell fast in love with the sport of fly fishing that would endure throughout his life. He graduated from high school and went on to proudly serve his country in the Navy as an air crewman.

Bob moved to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1976 and began his business, Artistic Oral Ceramics. He was a hardworking man and has a long list of accomplishments in dental, he so enjoyed using his artistic abilities to help people feel and look better with beautiful smiles.

His unstoppable work ethic ensured his business success and the future success of his family and employees. Bob’s devotion to his family and friends was steadfast, he was a man who could be relied upon and in times of need leaned upon; giving of himself to those all around. He always knew how to be the best friend a person could ask for. He showed the world love and it was his delight to create and give gifts, in several artistic mediums such as jewelry making, woodworking and painting; his awesome hand crafted gifts were a treasure to receive.

Bob was a true family and friends man who knew how to have fun and always had some great adventures in store for whoever wanted to join. He enjoyed outdoor sports, skiing, rafting, biking and so many awesome connections and many more beautiful memories were made because of Bob. Friends throughout every state and city that he ever lived in were connected and blessed by his humor and all out charismatic shenanigans. The lessons he shared and the life he lived will leave an indelible mark on his family and friends. His philosophy in life was to never give up. He was a tough man, who fought a tough fight, he deserves to rest. Bob will forever be in our hearts, forever in our lives.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at the Anthem Church, 251 W. Miles Ave., Hayden, Idaho, and following will be a memorial celebration of life at 1 p.m. at the White House Events Center, 805 Sherman Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
