Lurann Skwanqhqn, 85

Lurann Skwanqhqn, 85, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was a resident of DeSmet, Idaho.

She was born Nov. 5, 1931, in Avoca, Ark., to Elmer and Myrtle (Bowman) Polk. Her family moved to Portland, Ore., when she was in grade school. She graduated from high school in Portland. Lurann later attended college and earned a degree in child advocacy.

Lurann was married to Kenneth Holt. The couple later divorced. Lurann met Joseph Skwanqhqn in 1978 and the couple lived as a blended family. They were married on Dec. 16, 1997, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and had lived together 36 years. Joseph died in March 2015.

Joe and Lurann moved from Seattle to DeSmet, Idaho, in 1989. Lurann has lived in DeSmet since. She was a member of the Catholic Church, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeSmet.

Survivors include her children, David LaDoux of Salem, Ore., Preston Golleher of Tacoma, Wash., Cindy Mullen of Coeur d’Alene and Dollene Crimming of Portland; stepchildren Patrick George, Michael George, Mary George and Andrea George; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, including Brayden McDonald of Coeur d’Alene whom Lurann helped raise in DeSmet.

At her request, no services will be held.
