COEUR d’ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene Public Library will host a book launch featuring live birds of prey on Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. in the Community Room. A second program will begin at noon.
“Beauty and the Beak,” written by Deborah Lee Rose and Birds of Prey Northwest’s Jane Veltkamp, is a children’s nonfiction book about a bald eagle that lost its beak in an illegal shooting and received a 3D-printed prosthetic beak. The eagle was hand fed and provided water before she could eat on her own again.
Copies of the book will be available to purchase for autographing. Patrons who need accommodation to participate in library programs or services are asked to contact the staff prior to the activity by calling (208) 769-2315.
