A popular North Idaho horse show won’t take place this year due to smoke from wildfires in the region.
Held annually for 41 years at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, this is a first-time cancellation of the Idaho State Draft Horse and Mule International Show.
Poor air quality caused by the smoke is hazardous for the animals and spectators, said the horse show’s Facebook page.
The show, which takes place each year on the third weekend after Labor Day, was scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 21 to 24.
