DELIVERY: Porch for elderly

| September 10, 2017 1:00 AM

I was surprised and dismayed by the letter sent to your subscribers declaring that carriers will no longer deliver to the porch. The distribution department obviously missed the letter printed in The Press informing us that we have the fastest growing geriatric population in the country.

I look after a lady who is nearly 90. So many people, people can’t make it out of their house and down the steps in good weather, let alone in snow and ice. I used to take the paper and stopped it for the summer with the intention of picking it up again this month. I will be asking for the credit on my account to be refunded instead. Not interested in retrieving a paper that is buried in the snow and has been driven over. I can’t imagine how many subscribers you will lose because your carriers won’t walk a few steps and carry a flashlight. At least two that I know of. Where’s the service?
