CAROUSEL: All publicity is good

| September 10, 2017 1:00 AM

My grandchildren came to visit from Seattle and they went to ride on the carousel. They really enjoyed it and had a fun time. But, they didn’t know to go ride the carousel because I had attended the city council meetings or because I had made some phone calls to know about it.

They went because I had read in this section of the paper the question as to WHY people were not going down to ride the carousel and the ANSWERS as to why by Judy Norton and Betty Martin.

Not every person in Coeur d’Alene, let alone visitors and tourists, can attend the city council meetings or even know to make phone calls to find out information about the carousel. So instead of asking for their apology, maybe they are owed a thank you for bringing it to our attention that it is actually down there.

I understand the music can’t be louder due to the neighbors, and that garage doors that raise up are expensive and the politically correct pale yellow color helps to make it blend into the neighborhood to not be seen…wait! Maybe that’s the problem. People actually don’t see it there or know what it is.

It’s a fun thing to have in Coeur d’Alene. The question is not WHY people are not coming down to ride, the question is HOW can it be made more inviting and let people know it is actually there.
