Cardinals drop two in volleyball to NAIA schools

GREAT FALLS, Mont. — North Idaho College took a game from Great Falls and two from Carroll, but dropped a pair of matches to NAIA foes Friday at the Great Falls tournament.

Halle Hess had 13 kills, Hailee Etter 10 kills for NIC in a 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20 loss to the Great Falls Argos.

Etter had five blocks and Lake City High product Macy Ducoeur had nine kills and four blocks for NIC against Great Falls.

Later, NIC fell to Carroll 25-20, 13-25, 25-15, 22-25, 15-13 to fall to 9-4.

Stats were not available for the Carroll match.

NIC faces Montana-Western today.

NIC games rescheduled: Due to poor air quality in the region cause by wildfires, two Cardinal men’s and women’s soccer games have been rescheduled.

The games at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Ore., originally scheduled for Friday, will be played Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. for the women and 4:15 p.m. for the men.

The games at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore., originally scheduled for today, will be played Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. for the women and 1:15 p.m. for the men.

The Sept. 30 home games with Community Colleges of Spokane have been rescheduled to Oct. 4 to accommodate the travel to the Oregon colleges. The women’s game will be played at 2 p.m. and the men’s game will be played at 4:15. Both games will be held at NIC.

ATHLETICS SHOWCASE

After a few years as a luncheon gathering, the NIC Cardinals Athletics Showcase is going prime time.

North Idaho College coaches and team captains will present previews of the upcoming season just getting underway at a gathering from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Le Peep Restaurant in Coeur d’Alene. LePeep is located in the Riverstone development, 1884 W. Bellerive Lane, on the Spokane River.

The coaches’ showcase and reception is a special kick-off event with presentations from NIC’s coaches and a highlight video of last season’s accomplishments.

The public is welcome to attend the reception/dinner, which costs $10.

The NIC Booster Club meets regularly on the second and last Tuesday of the month at noon.
