CAROUSEL: Apologies aplenty
Wow! Nothing like ruffling a few feathers — no, a lot of feathers. I had no idea my opinion meant so much.
You are absolutely right; I did not do any research regarding the carousel. I knew that it once was a landmark in Coeur d’Alene, and when a fire destroy Playland Pier, the carousel was salvaged and eventually found and purchased, and brought back to Coeur d’Alene.
I appreciate the beautiful gift we have been given. I just had an opinion which I expressed and after seeing the original, I expected more.
I’m sure countless hours were given, in fact, endless hours given to see that your dream came true. Six years in the making, so we could have this little bit of history back in our wonderful little city! That was very generous and a thoughtful gift.
I am sorry that I have offended you and all those who spent so much time and effort on this project. Maybe I spoke too soon. I didn’t realize you weren’t finished with the project. After reading your comments that there is still much planned, and the improvements continue, I am very eager to see what is going to improve.
Thank you Cari, Rita, the Foote family, Bud Ford, the board, the contractors, event organizers, hired staff and city officials who were involved, all donors, volunteers and LaDonna. I’m certain everyone appreciates all you have done, and will yet do to keep the carousel a fun attraction for our city. Please accept my apology.
