ACCIDENTS: Pleasant View predicament
Another day. Another dollar. Another accident at Pleasant View and Prairie.
I feel sorry for Post Falls Highway District and the first responders with the fatal crash victim’s families left picking up the pieces of poor planning.
Too many starter home commuters and apartment dwellers too far from gainful employment mixed with too many Canadian cattle trucks, big rigs, concrete trucks and trash haulers exasperated by passing freight trains. Too many idiots using a right turn lane on Pleasant View to pass stopped, left-turning big rigs waiting for oncomers to pass. Lethal ramifications of too many commuters.
Solution? Put in a big roundabout like Kennewick, Wash., has on U.S. 395! Maybe one on Highway 53 and Pleasant View, too.
Roundabout works well on Prairie and McGuire for the I-90 avoiding Haydenites and probably cheaper than traffic lights.
Bad planning choices are costing lives. The status quo is lethal.
