Anthony W. LaPan Sr.

Tony LaPan Sr. passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Tony was born in 1939 to Sam and Gertrude LaPan in Michigan. He was the first son of 14 children.

He graduated from Pinconning High School in 1957 and then enlisted and served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. He married Carol in 1960 and together they had four children. He attended North Idaho College and received an A.A. degree in law enforcement.

His careers include service in law enforcement, working as a heavy equipment operator, long-haul truck driver, welder and an insurance agent.

Tony enjoyed spending time in the woods. He loved elk hunting, and camping up in the North Fork area of the Coeur d’Alene River. He also enjoyed puttering in his shop making horseshoe sunflowers and tinkering with all sorts of things.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of 57 years; children Tony and (Lynn) LaPan Jr. of Coeur d’Alene, Dan LaPan of Alaska, Joe LaPan of Coeur d’Alene and a daughter (estranged). Other survivors include granddaughter Lydia and (Zane) of Washington; granddaughter Sophie of Alaska; sisters Martina, Carol Lee and Linda; and brothers Delbert and Edward.

Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835, where he was cared for and comforted in his last days.

A visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, with a reception to follow. Family is providing a light lunch. There will also be a graveside service following the reception at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
