Timberlake girls rout Grangeville

SPIRIT LAKE — Five different players scored goals in the second half as the Timberlake Tigers romped past the Grangeville Bulldogs 7-0 in an Intermountain League match Saturday.

“We were able to get some new kids some time on the field today,” Timberlake coach Steve Michael said. “They got a chance to see the game at a speed that you don’t see in practice, so that was good for us.”

Georgina Simpson scored two goals in the first half for Timberlake (3-2, 3-1 IML), which travels to Priest River on Tuesday.

MOSES LAKE — Maddie Lasher scored both goals for the visiting Trojans in a loss to the Chiefs.

“It was a shaky start, but we played much better as the game developed,” Post Falls coach Steve Mills said. “As long as the girls keep progressing at their current rate, it should be a competitive season.”

Post Falls (1-2-1) travels to Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.

SPIRIT LAKE — Denton Meijerink had two second-half goals and Kobe Harris had three assists and a goal as the Tigers beat the Bulldogs in an Intermountain League match.

“It was probably our best passing game of the year so far,” Timberlake coach Bert Bentley said. “I’m still confident we’re moving in the right direction. We’re still mixing some players around in different directions, but Denton and Wade (Scott) are playing well together right now.”

Scott had a goal and an assist for Timberlake (5-1, 3-0 IML), which travels to Priest River on Tuesday.
