COEUR d’ALENE — Marisol Guerrero scored her first hat trick with North Idaho College as the Cardinals routed Everett Community College 9-1 in nonconference play Saturday at Eisenwinter Field.
“The ladies played with a greater sense of urgency today,” NIC coach Dan Hogan said. “I think they took the loss against Tacoma CC (4-1 on Friday) personally and aimed to prove a point today.”
Linnea Pretzer also scored a hat trick, Chelsea Love had two goals and an assist, and Ellory Ferris had two assists for NIC (2-2-0), which opens Northwest Athletic Conference play on Friday at Blue Mountain in Pendleton, Ore., and Saturday at Treasure Valley in Ontario, Ore.
Everett is 1-4-0.

COEUR d’ALENE — Armando Perez scored in the 5th and 89th minute for the Cardinals in a nonconference win over the Trojans at Eisenwinter Field.
“We did a better job of getting more guys forward when we won the ball today,” NIC coach Ken Thompson said. “Our forwards are starting to make some better runs to the goal.”
Cade Roske scored in the 25th minute for NIC (1-3), which travels to Blue Mountain of Pendleton, Ore., to open NWAC play on Friday.
Everett is 1-3-1.

NIC claims title
at Highline tourney
DES MOINES, Wash. — The Cardinals wrapped up the Highline College tournament 4-0, winning each in straight sets to claim the tournament championship.
NIC beat Umpqua 25-23, 25-19 and Mt. Hood 25-23, 25-22 on Saturday after sweeping Grays Harbor and Pierce on Friday.
Hailee Etter of NIC was named tournament Most Valuable Player, and Rachel Leshikar earned Libero of the Tournament. Halle Hess and Sandpoint product Kayla Neumann were named tournament all-stars.
Statistics were not available.
NIC (8-2) will compete in the University of Great Falls tournament next Friday and Saturday, opening against Montana State-Northern and Great Falls on Friday and playing Carroll on Saturday.
