Advanced Custom Cabinets is moving

High-end cabinetry and architectural millwork for commercial projects and custom homes are the specialties of Advanced Custom Cabinets, which is moving from 9896 Chelsea Court in Hayden to 250 W. Anton in Coeur d’Alene.

With about 50 employees, the key people are Joe McCormick, president; Mark Nichols, residential estimator and project manager; Dan Tomzchec, senior commercial project manager, and Jennifer Reasoner, commercial estimator. The company opened in 1998 and works throughout the Northwest.

“We approach every project from a craftsman point of view and work directly with our customers to get them exactly what they want with quality and value in mind,” McCormick said. “We are a custom woodworking company that can build just about anything out of wood.”

Lake City Highland Dance opening in Silver Lake Mall

Traditional Scottish dancing for girls and boys of all ages and levels is the specialty of Lake City Highland Dance. Next to the old Sports Authority location in Silver Lake Mall, the studio will open Saturday with a grand opening to be announced.

With the class schedule to be determined by signups, instructor Kasey Hawkins is a nationally ranked competitive dancer and certified by the British Association of Teachers of Dance.

JA Bertsch Heating-Cooling plans move to Coeur d’Alene

“Home improvement” is the goal of JA Bertsch Heating & Cooling. Owner Joel Bertsch purchased an acre with two buildings at 3645 and 3647 Government Way. He plans to lease the places to the current occupants for about a year and then begin a major renovation.

“My father and grandfather were building contractors in Cd’A, and I’m proud to continue their tradition of helping residents of North Idaho improve their homes,” Bertsch said.

- Fuel Fitness & Nutrition has a new building opening in early October at Haycraft and Government Way, and J.E. Design-Build, Northwest Insurance Associates, Shine Salon and Surf My Ad software company are in a new building at 724 E. Lakeside.

- On Appleway watch for Firehouse Subs and Dairy Queen. Hayden Lake Physical Therapy will be on Prairie Avenue. The Cd’A Kmart will close by Oct. 1 as one of 43 closing nation-wide by Sears Co.

- Future new hotels include a Staybridge Suites in Riverstone and a Fairfield Inn on Northwest Boulevard. The Shilo Inn on Appleway will change to Comfort Suites after a major remodel.

- Openings coming on Fourth Street include the Relic Moon offering piercing and body jewelry and the White Pine coffee place. The Nail Lounge, Encore Shoes and a Solutions People call center are coming to Silver Lake Mall.

- Post Falls openings include Popeye’s (opening later this month) and Riverstone Dental Care.

- Fast Cash 4 Cards and Massage Envy businesses will be in Ironwood Square. A new Asian eatery will be where the Kynrede Cafe was removed in Hayden. Watch for El Taco Loco off Canfield Avenue, EyeGuys Optical in Hayden, Rumour Boutique expanding on Government Way and Vine & Olive restaurant in Riverstone.

- Folks with a new boat on Lake Isabella, Calif., couldn’t get it to float after they put it into a marina, whose employee discovered it was still strapped to the trailer below.

- Sign in the yard of a funeral home: “Drive Carefully. We Can Wait.”

- Should it grammatically be “We live in North Idaho” or “We live in Northern Idaho?”
