Trojans blaze past Mead

| September 2, 2017 1:00 AM

CHENEY — That Post Falls offense matched the turf on which it played Friday night.

Red hot.

Senior quarterback Nate Buer threw for four touchdowns as the Trojans rolled past the Mead Panthers 54-40 at Roos Field on the campus of Eastern Washington University.

“Nate has really put together two big games for us,” Post Falls coach Blaine Bennett said. “He’s very smart in the classroom, and made big decisions tonight.”

Braden Vaughan ran for three touchdowns for Post Falls (2-0), which finished with no turnovers after losing the ball seven times in last year’s matchup against Mead.

“It was a big emphasis not to turn the ball over tonight,” Bennett said. “We stopped them on a couple fourth downs and had an interception that really changed the momentum. We’ve got a mature team and really wanted to build on last week’s win. We just played well in all three phases.”

Post Falls travels to University next Friday.
