Cd'A Symphony to perform in City Park

COEUR d’ALENE — Relax with family, friends and music this Monday during the Coeur d'Alene Symphony's Labor Day concert in Coeur d'Alene City Park.

Come with picnics, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy pops, patriotic and light classics from the full orchestra.

National Young Artist Competition winners from the Symphony’s past concerts will be featured. Acclaimed violinist Takumi Taguchi will play part of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto and mezzo-soprano Amber Fiedler will sing Broadway favorites and patriotic tunes.

Concert-goers will also enjoy a teaser from the symphony's upcoming October concert. The show will include the fourth movement of Beethoven's "Symphony No. 5" accompanied by the Armed Forces Salute to honor veterans and active military.

The concert is free and goes from 1-2:30 p.m.

This year, the symphony will select a new artistic director as chosen candidates from across the country will be conducting the season's concerts. Efforts to find the best artistic director for the orchestra and the community will be a process of the symphony and the public throughout the coming season.

Season tickets will be available at the Labor Day concert.

The following concerts will take place in the Salvation Army Kroc Center Performing Arts Center later in the season:

- Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. — Season Opener

- Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 2 — Holiday Concert

- Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 20 at 2 — Family Concert

- March 16 at 7:30 p.m. and March 17 at 2 p.m. — National Young Artist Winners

- May 4 at 7:30 p.m.  and May 5 at 2 p.m. — Season Finale

Season tickets — five subscription concerts — are available through Oct. 7, 2017: $90 adults, $67.50 seniors (65+), $45 youth and students with ID.
