Charles Cox, 83

Charles Cox, 83, passed away at The Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 30, 2017.

Charles was born in Osage, Okla., on Feb. 26, 1934, to George and Verna Ellen (Bowline) Cox. He was raised in Northern California and worked in construction. He was a member of the California Carpenters Union and WA-ID-MT Carpenters Union. He moved to North Idaho in 1968, and resided in several towns including Post Falls before settling on the farm in Vay, Idaho. He worked in the construction industry as a superintendent and owned and operated Chuck’s Backhoe in Post Falls, Idaho.

Charles married Connie Craft on Dec. 24, 1989, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working vintage cars and Volkswagens, farming, growing hay and raising cows. He also enjoyed building houses.

Charles is survived by his wife, Connie of Spirit Lake, Idaho; children from his first marriage to Blanche Powell: son Steve and wife Anne Cox of Blanchard, Idaho, daughter Elaine Mathers of Post Falls, and daughter Carol and husband Jerry Scheller of Spokane Valley, Wash.; sisters Doris Visalli of Arizona and Dora Wilcox of California; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Woody Cox, Jack Cox and Donnie Cox; and sister Bobbi Roberts.

At his request, no services will be held. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
