TAEKWONDO

KTigers: A total of 17 students from the local martial arts facility in Coeur d’Alene recently attended the Washington State Governor’s Cup on Oct. 14. The competition had close to 1,000 competitors from over 65 different martial arts schools from all over Washington, California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Canada, but KTigers were the only school representing the Kootenai County/Spokane County area.

KTigers competed in various Poomsae (form), board breaking and sparring categories. KTigers brought home a total of 14 first-place gold medals, 11 second-place silver medals, and 15 bronze medals.

Sting Timbers FC Girls ’04 Red: The Sting traveled to Boise to play in the Gem State Challenge on Oct. 7-8.

On Saturday, the Sting beat FC Alianza Pegasus from Nampa 1-0. Kayla Dearmin scored the lone goal with Isabella Lucky assisting. Danika Nowak had the shutout at keeper. That afternoon the team beat FC Nova ECNL 04 Reserves 1-0. Molly Foster scored for the Sting Timbers, with Isabella Lucky assisting. Danika Nowak again had the shutout at keeper.

Sunday the Sting played Idaho Rush Nero for a berth in the championship game, and fell 3-1, to finish in a tie for third place. Isabella Lucky scored the goal for the Sting Timbers.

The Sting Timbers lost 2-1 to the IEYSA Breakers FC 04 Lewis group in Spokane on Oct. 14 in PSPL league play. Olivia Wyatt scored the lone goal for the Sting, with Isabella Lucky assisting.

Sting Timbers ’05 girls: The Sting beat Washington East 5-1 on Sunday. Mira Crawford scored with an assist from Jocelyn Dennis. Abella Voigt had a hat trick with assists from Taleya Jones and Elise Frazier. Jocelyn Dennis scored the final goal for the Timbers.

Sting Timbers FC ’03 Boys Red: Last Saturday, STFC beat FC Spokane Valdez 8-0. Walker Jump had 3 goals and 3 assists. Quinn Clovis and River Engles each had 2 goals. Nate Durocher had 1 goal and 1 assist. Miles Jones and Connor Norris each had 1 assist. Tyler Allred earned the shutout in goal for STFC.

Sting Timbers FC ’06 Boys Red: STFC beat FC Spokane Escobar 3-1 on Sunday to remain undefeated in PSPL league play. Kason Pintler led STFC with 2 goals. Jacob Molina added a goal on a penalty kick. Connor Jump had 2 assists. Braden Latscha was in goal for STFC.
