Popeye's to open soon in Post Falls

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen is opening soon on the northeast corner of Highway 41 and Neufeld Lane (across from Wendy’s) in Post Falls.

The 3,149- square-foot place has seating for 62 and a drive-through. Manager Elizabeth McCarthy said it has 50 to 60 employees and will be open 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily with Wi-Fi and sports TV.

Starting in 1972 as Chicken on the Run, Popeye’s has more than 2,500 locations. The menu includes many options of chicken, fish, shrimp, side dishes of beans, rice, coleslaw, Cajun fries, mashed potatoes, biscuits, family meals, kids meals and cinnamon apple pie. Check www.popeyes.com.

The company is owned by Restaurant Brands International, based in Toronto, Canada, that also owns Burger King and Tim Horton restaurants for a total of about 22,600 locations. McDonald’s Corp. has 36,800, and Yum Brands with KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell has more than 43,600. Subway is No. 1 with 44,000 locations.

Cardinal Bookstore is ‘new’ NIC name

With a major renovation in progress, the bookstore at North Idaho College is changing names from the Mica Peak Exchange to the Cardinal Bookstore. It offers far more than books with NIC clothing of all types. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 to 2:30 p.m. Fridays.

Emery’s Restaurant and the NIC Culinary Arts Deli are open Wednesdays and Thursdays for the fall semester. With views of the lake, Emery’s is open 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Phone (208) 769-7763 for reservations. The Deli is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check www.nic.edu/emerys.

Forge Fitness opens on Seltice Way

Specializing in accommodating each individual, Forge Fitness opened last week at 2765 W. Seltice Way in Post Falls.

With circuit machines, cardio and free weights, the staff targets best options for members to obtain their goals. Rates include year contracts, corporate accounts, reductions for military, veterans and first-responders, students and seniors.

The place is open 24/7 for members, and desk hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. - Orlando’s Mexican Kitchen at Highway 95 and Dalton Avenue and The Bookworm at 1132 N. Fourth St. have both closed. The Cd’A Kmart closed Saturday as one of 43 closing nationwide by Sears Co.

- Mark and Sarah Lathrop of Coeur d’Alene have opened Liberty Lake Wine Cellars tasting room and production facility at 23110 E. Knox in Liberty Lake. Check www.libertylakewinecellars.com.

- In late December MoMo sushi bar, wok and grill will be where Bonsai Bistro was at 101 E. Sherman. On Appleway watch for Firehouse Subs and Dairy Queen.

- Future new hotels include a Staybridge Suites in Riverstone and a Fairfield Inn on Northwest Boulevard. The Shilo Inn on Appleway will change to Comfort Suites after a major remodel.

- Openings coming on Fourth Street include the Relic Moon offering piercing and body jewelry and the White Pine coffee place. Encore Shoes will come to Silver Lake Mall. Massage Envy will be in Ironwood Square.

- New construction off Mullan Avenue in Post Falls will be a Coachman Auto Body, and neighboring Kootenai Motors is moving to Hayden. Post Falls openings include Riverstone Dental Care on Mullan.

- A new Asian eatery will be where the Kynrede Cafe was removed in Hayden. Watch for El Taco Loco off Canfield Avenue, EyeGuys Optical in Hayden, Rumour Boutique expanding on Government Way and Vine & Olive restaurant in Riverstone.

- An auction of items from Wiggett’s Antique Marketplace — which has closed after 33 years — is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22. Check www.wiggettsmarketplace.com.
