The place for aerospace

COEUR d’ALENE — Aerospace representatives have landed at The Coeur d'Alene Resort for the I-90 Corridor Aerospace Conference and Expo.

The conference, which opened Tuesday evening, provides opportunities for regional aerospace manufacturers to learn about the latest supply trends while networking and enjoying the best the Lake City has to offer.

"This event is a hidden gem. Excellent topics, speakers and matchmaking at the perfect location," said Jason Chesley, senior sales manager for Aerocet, Inc. in Priest River. "This group is doing great things for aerospace in the Northwest."

Presented by the Inland Northwest Aerospace Consortium, the Idaho Aerospace Alliance and the American Manufacturer Network, the I-90 Corridor Aerospace Conference & Expo is in its second year.

Exhibitors include Boeing Commercial Airplanes of Renton, Wash., Anderson Quality Spring Manufacturing of Canby, Ore., Harris Corporation of Amityville, N.Y. and more than 40 other local and national companies, schools and organizations.

This year's theme is "Growing the Aerospace Industry in the Inland Northwest."

The conference continues today with registration from 6:30-10 a.m., followed by a continental breakfast from 7:30-8 a.m., an opening welcome from 8-8:15 a.m. and a presentation by keynote speaker John Byrne, Boeing's vice president of aircraft materials and structures, at 8:15 a.m.

The day will include breakout sessions, business panels and a presentation by Susan Champlain, Boeing's director of state and local government operations in the Northwest. Thursday's activities include a morning golf tournament, lake cruises and float plane rides.

Registration at the door is $195.
